Vancouver = Home Of Canada's BEST Eco-Friendly Clothing Boutiques

by Carmen Cruz

This month's issue of Flare Magazine, features an article listing Canada's 10 best eco-friendly clothing boutiques. Five of the shops/designers listed are from right here in Vancouver. How awesome is that?!?!  These stores/designers prove that you can dress in an environmentally friendly manner, without looking like a hippy (not that there's anything wrong with that....).
Here's a list of our 5 eco-chic shops:

Body Politic Clothing + Accessories
They're all about promoting eco-friendly clothing without sacrificing style. "Independent designers from Vancouver to New York are showcased at body politic. You'll find exceptional designs with an urban aesthetic, produced in North America, and created from the best natural and sustainable fabrics."

Twigg & Hottie
This store features over 50 independent Canadian designers as well as their own in-house labels. You'll find many one of a kind items, that include vintage and reworked pieces.

One of Vancouver's go-to designers for cliché-busting, eco-conscious clothes. She's well known for using ethical materials to create her unique statement pieces.
Cool fact: 95 percent of her collections are produced locally.

Obakki

Fashion FAIL of The Day

by Carmen Cruz

Let's file this under a section called 'fashion trends we'll look back at and laugh, and laugh, and laugh'....

This comes straight out of this months issue of Flare Magazine:

I'd love to know how the heck you're supposed to:
A) Type
B) Text
C) Scratch you nose
D) Open a door/jar/window
E) Comfortably use the loo (ladies)
...all without doing some form of damage to yourself, your property or your blessed, blessed manicure.

Fail.

The Mullet is BACK!!!... Kinda

by Carmen Cruz

It's a party in the front, but even MORE party in the back. Apparently, this is the latest trend right now. It's unfortunately called 'The Mullet Dress.'
Shmeh.

Selena Gomez might be the only one who did it right. I can't believe I just said that.
Winners, here I come...???

I Loves Me My Shoes : Vancouver Edition

by Carmen Cruz

I've never been one to follow trends.
Harem pants? No thanks. Neon clothing? Uh-uh. Weaving feathers into your hair? Nah. I'll pass.
BUT~
There's one growing trend that I have to say is genuinely Vancouver, and I'm loving it! I have 2 words for you:

Native Shoes

Think of crocs - light weight and really comfortable, but kind of ghastly to look at, right?
Now, take away the ugliness and make them hip, colourful and even more light weight.
Ladies and gentlemen, you've now got yourself a pair of native shoes. They're cool, they're comfy, and they're designed right here in Vancouver. How awesome is that?

I own 3 pairs at the moment (Yup. I said 3) and I'm already planning on picking up yet another pair in a whole new style and colour. Are they addictive? Yes.

 My Purple Jeffersons
                                                                                                               My Loulou Pink Jericho's

My newest addition: Confetti Purple Jefferson

They're kind of a big deal. People KNOW them. See below...

(Is it just me or did the host say Tommy Hill-Finger???)

Nowadays, I tend to see more and more Vancouverites sporting these über cool shoes. So to all the people who laughed at me when I bought my very first pair almost 2 years ago, and NOW own a pair of their own, all I have to say is... nice shoes. ;D
