Musical Awesomeness.

Saul Williams ~ List Make Of Demands - If this tune comes on while you're running/working out, you're probably gonna pull something...

Kings Of Leon ~ Supersoaker - A fun and upbeat song from King Of Leon's new upcoming album called 'Mechanical Bull' (out September 24rth). Sounds awesome!

Washed Out ~ Don't Give Up - Looking for the perfect soundtrack to play while lounging at the beach? Washed Out is whatcha wanna listen to. This song is off their new album called 'Paracosm' (out August 13th). So GooooooOOOOooooood.

Depeche Mode ~ Enjoy The Silence - This song always reminds me of driving around the River Valley in Edmonton in the summertime. Yes, we have summer in Edmonton. You know that elusive list of your top 25 songs of all time? This one is on that list for me.

Photo Diary: The Vancouver Special

by Carmen Cruz

Favourite Photos This Week.

On Broadway near Arbutus
On Broadway near Oak Street

Whoever takes the time to leave these notes around the Kitsilano / False Creek area is every shade of awesome.
As you're leaving Wreck Beach, you'll see this. I'm not sure why, but I found it hilarious that some people need to be reminded.

Speaking of beaches, this is what sunset at Kits dog beach looks like. The dogs here really have it good, don't they?
Every once in a while, there's a guy who likes to set up his telescope close to Kits beach. He points it towards the moon, and puts up a sign encouraging people to check out. The view is absolutely spectacular. This is kinda what you'll see...
The moon hit's your eye like a... oh forget it.

Only in Vancouver.

WTF Friday Video Of The Day: Awkward Family Photos

by Carmen Cruz

Awkward Family Photos.Com is by far one of my favourite sites on the internet.
If you've never heard of it, it's basically a hilarious, awkward and WTF-type mix of family photos that people submit to the website. It's a brilliant way to kill 30 minutes at work (not that I condone that type of Tom Foolery... ;D).
Here's is a hilarious and awkward slideshow of some of the most ridiculous pregnancy photos you'll ever see. WTF were the photographers thinking?!?!?!

My Latest Obsession

by Carmen Cruz

Last year, I accidentally stumbled across an artist's website that truly blew my mind.
His name is Fab Ciraolo and he happens to be a fellow Chilean (bonus!).
He takes some of your favourite icons from the past and brings them back to life in the 21st century.
Honestly? This guy's work is my latest obsession.

Check it out.

Amazing, no?
If you're interested, you can find out more about Fab through his website, tumblr, twitter and facebook page.
Yes, he sells prints and clothing featuring his painfully cool works or art (JOY!).
I've got my eye on a Frida Kahlo tank....

Enjoy.

Songs Of The Week: Phoenix, Maverick Sabre, Smith Westerns, Kanye West, Tame Impala, Justin Timberlake

by Carmen Cruz

Kanye West ~ Black Skinhead vs. Tame Impala's 'Elephant - Mashup mastermind Nate Belasco mixed these two songs together and created musical magic. **NOTE: You can download this tune for free!!!**

Justin Timberlake ~ Tunnel Vision - Off his amazing album 'The 20/20 Experience'. **WARNING: This video was previously banned from youtube (there's female nudity aplenty). The bigwigs at youtube have since changed their minds and now see the video as an artistic representation of the female body, rather than being something trashy. The video comments really run the gamut. Either way, a solid tune. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T WATCH THIS AT WORK!!!**

Enjoy.

About Me

by Carmen Cruz

Really? You wanna know more about little ol' me? Well here goes....

I'm originally from Edmonton, Alberta (born and raised) and growing up, Spanish was my first language. I'm incredibly proud to be a Chilena!

I've been in the TV/radio industry (combined) for almost 10 years.

Back in 2004, I won what I like to call the 'dog lottery' and am the owner of the coolest pup on the planet ~Maslow.

I moved to Vancouver in 2007 and fell in love with the ocean, the mountains and the laid back lifestyle.

I'm a music junkie, fashion lover, addicted to travel, good food, awesome beauty products and Nutella. I try to  keep on top of all the cool and fun things to do in this gorgeous city.

I like to think that I'm a work in progress. So are you. That's a good thing.

New Music From Beck & MIA

by Carmen Cruz

Two great tunes!
The first is from MIA and it's called 'Only 1 U'.

It's still not known if 'Only 1 U' will make its way onto MIA's new album 'Matangi'. The album is set for release this fall.

Here's a new one from Beck called 'I Won't Be Long'.

This is brand new, stand-alone single . It looks like Beck plans on releasing plenty of new material in the future (all singles), but he has no firm plans to make an actual full length album.

Enjoy.
